If you want to declare a different reality for your organization, there must be a shift that has to happen and this starts with a simple tool which will help you form a declaration that will enroll others into your vision.
The Universal Tool
The tool that can be applied in creating a successful declaration–whether it is professional or personal is UB SMART:
- SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely)
Unprecedented means to do something you’ve never done before. Most companies and CEO’s often work more and work harder to get the exact same results—just a little faster.
In order to have a declaration (which we talked about last time) come to fruition, you have to do something unprecedented—something you’ve never done, something that is going to move not only yourself, but your organization to a different trajectory because it’s new and it’s different. It doesn’t have to be massive; it can be a minor shift that is different that will get you closer to your destination.
Different, NOT Harder
Just to reiterate, unprecedented means it CANNOT be something that you’ve done before and just harder. For example, most people want to lose weight and when they tell me “Sabastian, I want to lose 15 lbs in 3 month.” I ask them, “Have you ever done that before?” If the answer is yes, then I don’t work with them unless they can come up with a declaration that is unprecedented, whether it is losing 15 lbs in 2 months or 30 lbs in 3 months—something new and something smarter.
The reason behind this is that when you do something new, you’re going to need to shift all of your resources—your team and yourself towards a different trajectory that will get you to where you have never been to get you the results you’ve never had and always wanted.
Getting the Results You Desire
Is there a goal you want and keep falling short of it? Are you at the ten yard line and can’t get into the zone? Are you ready to do something different, not more of the same?
Ready to challenge your team to do the unprecedented—something so new that it will lead to conversations to get you to the results you desire?
